The Life and Legacy of a Race Car Designer
The biography of Louis ‘Wiet’ Huidekoper charts the life and achievements of one of the most innovative and deep-thinking race car engineers and designers to have emerged in the last four decades of the sport. By all accounts, Wiet Huidekoper is perhaps not the best known name to many in motorsport today, and his name is certainly not known to most outside of the sport. But this modest and somewhat unassuming Dutchman has played a significant role in the design and development of numerous race cars across an impressively wide spectrum of racing categories, including the Lola T92/10, the various iterations of the Porsche 911 GT1 and the Dauer 962 LM GT.
In his prime, Wiet Huidekoper moved in the highest circles within motorsport and played a key role in two of Porsche’s victories at Le Mans.
